Meet our Medical Team
In addition to the team of experienced surgeons, London Eye Centre is renowned for its experienced medical support staffs. These staffs perform laser consultation exams, follow-up visits, patient counseling and deal closely with the surgeons to provide London Eye Centre patients with the best possible medical care. London Eye Centre's medical team have nearly 75 years of combined experience in the specialty of refractive surgery.
Richard Bryan, Chief TechnologistRichard Bryan, Chief Technologist
Richard completed ophthalmic training in 1975 at the National Defense Medical Centre in Ottawa, ON. After tours of duty in Victoria, Middle East (Egypt & Israel) and Cold Lake, Alberta, he joined Stanton Yellowknife Hospital as Clinical Supervisor of the Ophthalmology Department. He remained at the position with extensive travel throughout the Northwest Territories. Richard joined Dr. Johnson, founder of London Eye Centre in April of 1986. He has been closely involved in the all aspects of the medical care of laser vision correction patients since the procedure has existed.
Al Lens, C.O.M.T.Al Lens, C.O.M.T.
Al is a certified ophthalmic medical technologist and began his career in 1986 at Gimbel Eye Centre clinic in Calgary, AB. He moved to the Lower Mainland in 1996 and joined London Eye Centre in 2002. Al has authored/co-authored six books published for ophthalmic medical personnel and has been a presenter at numerous conferences across North America and in Saudi Arabia. He’s been very happy with his own results from PRK that was done in 1991. Al has been examining laser vision correction patients for over 2 decades. In his off hours, he enjoys cycling, kayaking, and photography.

Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel, Steve has worked with laser vision correction patients since 1995. After 6 years of assisting with the actual procedures as a surgical technician, Steve moved to the medical side of London Eye Centre where he has been managing patients pre & post operatively for over 10 years.
Letitia Meakins, C.O.ALetitia Meakins, C.O.A.
Letitia has been working in the ophthalmology industry for the past 9 years, starting her career at Gimbel Eye Center in Calgary where she obtained her Certified Ophthalmic Assistant through Joint Commission on Allied Health Personal. Making the move back to British Columbia, Letitia is currently working at our North Vancouver office as a surgical technician as well as managing pre and post-operative patients.
